Hi everyone!

Guess what? I recently had the incredible opportunity to chat with Liv Newman, this year's Miss Colorado's Teen. Not only is she stunningly beautiful, but she is also incredibly caring and a brilliant singer. During our interview, Liv shared her experiences as Miss Colorado's teen  and some of the important moments in her life.

THE INTERVIEW :

Q1: For those unfamiliar with you, tell us a little bit about yourself (hobbies, likes, dislikes, etc.............)

My name is Olivia “Liv” Newman, and I’m representing the beautiful and mountainous state of Colorado as Miss Colorado’s Teen 2023. I love doing theatre, in fact, I’ve been onstage since I was twelve years old! It’s my favorite thing to do, and I plan on pursuing a degree in it in college. Some of my favorite things include my dogs, community service, and preparing for Miss America’s Teen, of course! A couple things that I’m not a huge fan of are boiled carrots, homelessness, and people who give up on something before they even try! It’s always worthwhile to push yourself and never give up on what you believe in. For me, this is the fight to end domestic violence and homelessness for women and children. I’m doing this through a community service initiative that I named “The Butterfly Project - helping women in need spread their wings”.

Q2: Tell me something people would be surprised to know about you.

Many people don’t know that competing in Miss Colorado’s Teen this year was my very first pageant/scholarship competition! It still feels like I’m living in a dream every day because a year ago I wouldn’t have ever thought I would win a competition through the Miss America Org.

Q3: Do you have a celebrity crush?

Sam Hunt! He’s my favorite musical artist!

Q4: What’s the one thing you always wanted to do?

One thing I’ve always wanted to do was travel to Europe, and I had the opportunity to do so this past summer!

Q5: What do you think has been the most challenging thing you have ever done?

The most challenging thing I’ve ever done so far is accept rejection. For many people, including myself, it’s a very hard thing to do. Some experiences I’ve had with rejection are not getting a part I want in a musical or play, and not being hired for a job I want. A secret I’ve learned is that rejection can only make you stronger, and helps you better yourself! Whenever you are faced with rejection, don’t take it badly. Instead, learn from it and become better in the future!

Q6: How would you describe your personality?

I would describe myself as a spunky, outgoing, smart, and prepared person

\

Q7: What would you say were the most important moments of your life so far. How did you feel when you were crowned Miss Colorado’s Teen?

There are a couple important moments of my life I’d like to share.

First off, being crowned Miss Colorado’s Teen 2023! This was such an important and impactful moment in my life that I could have never dreamed of before. In that split second, it felt like time had stopped. I had just earned the opportunity of a lifetime, $3000 in scholarship money, 7 full-ride scholarships to different schools, and a huge responsibility to represent my state with confidence. I thank God for putting me in such an amazing position, and I know this year will go on to be one of the best years of my life.

Secondly, as I mentioned before, I’ve done theatre for a very long time. A very exciting moment was when I was announced second place for “Best Actress” in all of Colorado Springs through “The Gazette” newspaper. It shows that dedication and years of hard work will always pay off!

Q8: What is your biggest dream?

This is a hard question because I have a lot of dreams. I don’t think I have one singular “biggest dream” but here are a few things that I constantly dream about.

 1.     Being crowned Miss America’s Teen 2024.

2.     Performing for a traveling theatre company

3.     Giving back to my parents. They’ve given me everything from a wonderful life, a loving family, and every opportunity I could think of, and I hope to one day give them everything I can right back. They’re my biggest cheerleaders, and I love them so much.

4.     Change the world for the better. There are a lot of ways I want to do this... Advocating for homeless women and children, breaking stereotypes about women in pageants, making sure no child goes hungry, and much, much more

Q10: Would you like to tell us a little about your future plans?

Right now I’m working towards an Associate of Arts degree in college, but I hope to transfer to a bigger school in a year or two and pursue a bachelor of fine arts degree. School is very important to me, and I’m making sure that I set myself up for the best life possible by doing well and achieving good grades.

Q11: What's your favorite part about being Miss Colorado’s Teen?

My favorite part about my job as Miss Colorado’s Teen is breaking barriers and being a role model for young girls. What this means is I’m pushing through stereotypes of what a girl should be, and showing that being yourself is always the best option. Being a girl has a lot of challenges and obstacles, but when you can see past the negativity that might be thrown at, you, you get happiness in return. It’s so rewarding showing girls of every age that they can be who they want to be, and anything is possible if you put your mind to it.

Q12: How do you hang out with your friends?

We love to go to Dutch Bros. and chat about life!

Q13: Best advice you have gotten so far?

Some of the best advice I’ve ever received is to keep going. No matter how hard life gets, you can’t ever give up! Be you, do your best, and you will succeed!

Q14: The one thing you cannot live without is:

I have a stuffed pink care bear that I got from my family when I was very little. It’s one of my prized possessions, and I’d be heartbroken if I ever lost it. I still sleep with it every night!

Q15: Tell us about your Miss Colorado’s journey. How did you get here?

Like I said before, Miss Colorado’s Teen was the first scholarship competition that I ever competed in. My vocal coach got me involved, as she competed last year. She worked with me on different walks, and interview skills as well as talent. I walked into the weekend not knowing how to do a lot of things, and walked out with a brain full of information! I’ve learned so much on my journey so far, and I know I still have a lot to learn, but I’m ready for anything!

Q16: How do I get involved to compete with the Miss Colorado Organization?

Wonderful question! You can head to the Miss Colorado website, which I will have linked below, to register and apply for a local title. When you are accepted, you will compete in the state competition in June of 2024! All the registration information that’s needed will be on the website.

Q16:  Thanks for answering our question and being here with us on Tweekly Chic It was a fun experience knowing you more Tell us about your experience being featured on Tweekly Chic and what's your message for teens who really admire/ like you.

Thanks so much for having me! It was such a fun interview. My message to everyone is to keep being yourself! Don’t feel the need to change who you are for anyone, and always strive to be the best you can be, whether that be in school, your activities, or with your friends and family. Always be kind to yourself and never give up hope.
